How long does the program take? The M.A.T. program offers a unique curriculum design consisting of five classes worth six credit hours each. If you complete the program without any breaks, you can finish in roughly 20 months.
Is financial aid available? Yes. To be eligible for federal financial aid, you must be enrolled in at least six credit hours each 15-week term. For more information about financial aid, please visit our Financial Aid page.
Does the program include teaching certification? No. This program does not lead to certification, student must be currently teaching and/or hold a current teaching certification.
Is proctoring required for exams? For most courses, final exams will be completed in the online classroom.
Is all coursework online? Yes, although many courses call for "action research" to be completed in your current classroom setting.
What is the tuition rate for online courses? Tuition for the M.A.T. is $435 per credit hour, which includes a technology fee for online courses. Tuition and fees are based on the current catalog online at www.stmary.edu. Please note that tuition and fees are subject to change.
How much time is required each week to complete course assignments? Expect to spend approximately 15 hours each week on coursework, not including time spent implementing what you've learned in your classroom.
What kind of support is available to me? We have a Personal Support Center that is there whenever you need it—24 hours a day, seven days a week. Dedicated technical support is also available. For one year after you graduate, you will have access to faculty members who can answer questions and advise you on implementing new educational techniques as part of our Applied Learning Guarantee.
Is the M.A.T. program accredited? Yes. University of Saint Mary is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). This accreditation covers initial teacher preparation programs and advanced educator preparation programs. NCATE is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation to accredit programs for the preparation of teachers and other professional school personnel. Additionally, the University of Saint Mary is accredited by the North Central Association of Schools & Colleges, one of the six regional accreditation agencies in the U.S.
